You will never be able to experience everything. So, please, do poetical justice to your soul and simply experience yourself.” ― Albert Camus, Notebooks, 1935-1951
Welcome to our new column. Introducing, "BEETUS, CLEETUS, AND DEETUS." Best friends since elementary school, the iconic trio is evoked when we need big philosophical things broken down for us. MEET BEETUS, CLEETUS, AND DEETUS
1. Beetus is the more practical and calm group member; he is the one person you always go to for advice, and always has a trustworthy reply; he would be the first to step up to a leadership position in a social setting.
2. Cleetus is so (sometimes people say "too") emotional, is an HSP, an INFP, is always daydreaming, and will say the most insightful and deepest comments in the middle of small talk.
3. Deetus is king. Deetus is the equivalent to "Taylor" from The Summer I Turned Pretty. Gets their sources from questionable places but is always ultimately right somehow.

This summer we asked them,
"What do you think about life being short? How do we deal with that fact? is it a bad, good thing?"
BEETUS:
Normally, when you like something, you want more of it, right? Like if you enjoy hanging out with that new friend, you would want to spend more time with him, right? This is the majority of us for literally everything. We like a certain product, so we want more of it; it's just natural human tendencies. One thing I have specifically learned to like lately is living--and I say this thankfully, and I hope you are able to do so in the near future as well. And there are manifold parts of life that are simply cut too short; and it's fucking unfair and heart-wrenching and frustrating. But I hope that some day you come to realize that life is better because it is not in excess. I hope that one day you are able to arrive at a space in your life when you amazingly are opened to the wonders and beauties of life that come with the immortality, the temporary and fleeting aspects of humanness. Because life wouldn't be the same, our experience and view of the world wouldn't be as whole, if it wasn't a limited time. Not only that, but we never know when our time will end. So let's all see the opportunity of living freely and as much as we can. Let us gain the courage to live happily.
CLEETUS:
i think that to feel, to perceive, to experience the latter/former and just all the experiences life brings you, is (one of) the biggest thing that answers "what it means to be human." no other creature is able to feel as deeply as we are, and allow the depth of our emotions to be such a big part of who we are as people. it's just such a beautiful thing, to experience the sensation and the emotion from something called "feeling," where these signals and chemicals and memories and transmitters and everything work together to create these weird emotional rollercoasters, all inside of our own sacred vessels called bodies. it's a wonder of life. and of humanity. we can't fully experience happiness until we embrace that life really is too short.
DEETUS:
IT'S TIME. IT'S TIME FOR YOUR HEALING GIRL ERA. so i mean like, as beetus and cleetus said, if you are able to do so, then why tf wouldn't u just recognize ur limited time, bc we are so fragile like what. and i feel like the full extent of experiencing this is pain from first hand experience. it's terrible to lose someone.
...but if u haven't experienced that experience yet, like OMG have u ever watched the Hunger Games? like seeing poor girl jenny lawrence lose like literally everyone she loved (EXCEPT PEETA BREAD) and witness all that death just sometimes hits u on how we really are hanging on by a broken thread and how really silly goofy and STOOPID humans can be with their little games. so, i think that u should def decide what u want to spend your experience and emotions on (when it's in your control, although i know it's not very common) but like yeah if u do that u totally be set fr and see it like that yeah.
