we are addicted. admit it.
this country is addicted to a lot of things, i'll admit, but there is one less-identified, overlooked addiction.
if you've been with us this past month, you may know about our "Do Nothing" Challenge. the "Do Nothing" Challenge was a virtual challenge designed to build participation in practicing the art of "doing nothing." in such a constantly overstimulated culture, it aimed to help registered local teens unlearn the unrealistic, unhuman ideals our society presses into our minds sometimes (whew, that's a lot of "un-'s."), and as a result, reap its creative, mental, emotional, and physical benefits.
readily-available-to-binge Netflix, depression, short advertisements, retail therapy, anxiety, scrolling, stores stocked with cheap processed foods, more anxiety, Instagram reels one close button away, turning to more dopamine, notifications, scrolling, substance, depression again, attention spans weaning.

the average human has an attention span of 8.25 seconds, less than a goldfish.
